De-Specialist Works were awarded the fit-out package, including the supply and installation of all the Audio Visual equipment for a cutting edge Global Directors Board Room at Arup’s Head Office, located on Fitzroy Street, London.
The Project saw the strip out of 200m2 of office space on an existing occupied floor of Arup Head Quarters; this included all internal glazing and solid partitions, as well as ceilings and raised access flooring. This was followed by the installation of acoustic glazed and solid partitions to form the board room and ante room, new acoustic ceilings and raised floors were installed with updated electrics and air conditioning throughout.
The meeting room itself had further acoustic panelling around the walls to reduce echo and enhance the sound quality when a global conference is taking place. The state of the art Audio Visual equipment was installed to enable full video conferencing with any similar location globally.
The main challenge De-Specialist Works faced during the delivery of this Project was the close proximity to occupied office space, which was all in continuous use throughout the day. In order to accommodate this challenge, all noisy and disruptive works that effected client operations had to be carried out at night or weekends.
All deliveries of plant and material had to be pre-planned and delivered to site out of hours to ensure that the office area encountered minimum disruption to the consultants and administration staff. The size and shape of the site itself was a challenge, it was exceptionally tight with a full height atrium throughout and needed careful co-ordination of the works to maximise the output site operatives. The project was delivered successfully whilst accommodating all client changes into agreed budgets and time scales.
